Megalopolis with very hard living conditions for an important part of the population require forms of approach of the physic, the social, the ecologic, the aspects of urban security and the questions of the contemporary subject, in a combined and articulated manner, collocating in the center of attention the relationships between the formal and informal parts of the urban fabric.

The complexity of these processes ask for a projectual approximation where are crossed and interfere different areas (urbanism, sociology, philosophy, psychoanalysis, engineering, geography, ecology, and more) what requires a specific responsibility of the project: to constitute the specialized and territorialized interpretation of the requests of the society that forms the vertebral column to which all the responses of each of the areas have to refer to.

The city is an object of study and action of the denominated social sciences and the urban space is the space where all the crossing of all the variables happens and the areas of expression of all the imaginaries.

The relationships between city, architecture, urbanity and public space are at the hearth of the questions of what is necessary to rearticulate in each of the scales of actuation.

The physical and socio-economical transformations provoked by the globalization have in their territory their most evident symptom: the continuous extension of the peripheries, the disconnection between the different parts of the “urban nebula”, the exacerbation of the differences, the sensation of exclusion of one part of the inhabitants and the augmentation of the time spent in moving oneself.

Like this, the big contemporary socio-spatial conglomerates ask as much for efficient responses to resolve the main urgencies as for an orientation for the necessary transformations based on a really democratic concept of the city capable of turning it into friendly, habitable and sustainable for all the inhabitants.
